Well, the 2025 Highland experience was a mixed one to say the least! The trip started well with Joe, Ronan, Paul, Rene and Consti enduring the long hike up to the base of Suilven mountain with myself and Maddy. The fishing was fantastic and the weather gods were extremely merciful to our group for the duration of the week. With more trophies landed than we could keep a count of we headed back down to our cars in high spirits with everyone agreeing that we had all had a special week in the most stunning of locations. My extreme happiness was short lived though, after arriving in Durness to perfect conditions only to see the weather forecast. A category red storm was huffing and puffing its way merrily across the Atlantic and due to flatten Durness by midday on Monday. If that wasn't bad enough, the week's forecast was every bit as bad. Thankfully we made it out and even managed to land some trout as well. Walter, Manuel, Romana and Lukas braved some of the most blustery and unsettled conditions I have ever fished in and I even managed to land a char on the last evening. All in all a success, especially when you think about the appalling conditions we were faced with. Roll on 2026 and a better forecast!
